KALIMANTAN ISLAND

The Indonesian Territory of Kalimantan makes up 2/3 of Borneo island. Well known for its tropical forests, rich natural resources, and exotic flora and fauna, Kalimantan offers a unique, unexplored world of its own. Originally inhabited by the Dayak, it is now home to 10 million inhabitants with a variety of culture.  Rivers plays a very important role in communications and economy of the inhabitants. Most of community life arecentred along rivers: houses, activities, etc. For adventurous, this island offers many options to satisfy the desire: rafting or traveling along some of the world’s most beautiful and challenging rivers, trekking through traditional village and jungles, or take a safari trip in of the many national parks.

    D.1 BALIKPAPAN – AIRPORT – SAMBOJA
    Upon arrival at Balikpapan airport proceed to Samboja Lodge by car about 1 hour driving late afternoon available observe the Orang Utans around the lodge. Dinner at the Lodge. (D).

    D.2 TREKKING
    After breakfast, continue trekking to plant the furie trees to see the foundation for supply food the future for the orang utans, observe the orang utan around the lodge, and also the other animals at Borneo sunbear. This area is strickly for the orang utans survival foundation which as been developed since 1992 in Borneo. Now at Samboja Lodge has about 210 orang utans that have been released into 6 islands around lodge. After lunch, driving to Bukit bangkiray to observe rainforest jungle trekking enjoy canopy bridge and if there is enough time to enjoy canoe trip of the back river and see proboscis monkey. Return to the lodge. Dinner at the Lodge. (B,L,D).

    D.3 SAMBOJA LODGE – AIRPORT
    Early trekking available around the lodge for feeding time about 07.00 and then return to Balikpapan airport..

  • 4 DAYS/3 NIGHTS ORANG UTAN EXPLORER PACKAGEOpen or Close

    D. 1 PANGKALABUN – LODGE
    Upon arrival at pangkalabun, meeting service and procced to Kumai river for 2 hours cruise to Lodge. Afternoon tours is available to watch wild animals such as crocodiles, orang utans, proboscis monkeys and birds. And then return to Lodge. Meals provided (D)

    D.2 LODGE – PONDOK TANGGUI – CAMP LEAKY
    Breakfast at the Lodge and then 1 hour cruise to PondokTanggui for 2nd stage to observe feeding time at 07.00 by taking short trekking, and then up to Camp Leaky for 2 hours cruise to watch the wild and semi wild or orang utans. In afternoon return to the lodge. Meal provide (B,L,D)

    D.3 LODGE – PESALAT – NATAI LENGKUAS
    Breakfast at the lodge and then continue to visit Pasalat area, the rehabilitation of reforestation, this area have been developed for introducing the rain forest and orang utan especially for the babies of orang utans. Afterwards continue cruise to Natailengkuas to observe the proboscis monkeys and back to the lodge. Meal provided (B,L,D)

    D.4 LODGE - PANGKALABUN
    Breakfast at the lodge, then return to Pangkalanbun for flight to the next destination (B)

    Pangkalanbun - Rimba Lodge (2 nights) or similar
